Peace is only in Presence, and Mindfulness is a technique to return to the present. With Hypnotherapy, we can create a new relationship with our mind, heal the past, and create a new future from being centered in the here and now - with presence and mindfulness.
The terms "Mindfulness" and "Presence" have become more mainstream in our cultures today versus the times of our parents.
Yet, how many people understand what those terms really mean and what are the benefits of integrating them into our life.
Presence is the practice of being here and now in our life, within ourself, and within our mind. It means learning to hold a healthy relationship with our mind and it's thoughts, to practice recognizing thoughts for what they are rather than allowing them to victimize us. Most people are terrorized by their thoughts in an abusive relationship not much different than with an abusive partner. Our thoughts can harm us mentally, emotionally, and physically. Every thought lands in the body and has it's impact on our health. Thought can take us far off course, hide the wisdom in our intuition, and cause us great fear and bitterness.
Thoughts take us back into the past an forward into the future in the scary "what-ifs" and worst case scenarios of thoughts. Thoughts present movies and stories that are not true, and yet seem true or likely to become true.
Thoughts are actually neurons sparking in our brain that become habits and patterns, neural pathways, with repetition and emotional imprint. They take us from the Present, where our attention needs to be for a number of reasons.
When driving, eating, talking, working, we must be in the present.
Even in healing the past and creating the future, we must be centered in the present.
And importantly, Peace is only found in the Present.
When we are present, we can be a true Presence. Being in our center, we bring an energy that is confident, commanding, and impactful through a reflection of self-awareness and authentic engagement. This cannot be faked; it can only come with the practice of Presence. and it is a practiced skill. It is a return to the now over and over again.
Mindfulness is defined as: a state of being of one focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while acknowledging one's thoughts, emotions, and sensations. It is a way to regain peace in the present moment, return from reactivity, and calm an anxious mind and/or body.
With Hypnotherapy, we create new patterns and habits called Neural Pathways - those neurons sparking together with consistency and emotional imprint. We use the power of our imagination to see, feel, hear, taste, smell ourselves in our life consistently returning to the present over and over again. We may form an agreement among internal parts to recognize and alert us when we are entrenched in the stories of our mind. We may also travel our timeline, healing and reframing experiences, replacing emotional attachment with the wisdom that is there for us.
There are many different ways that I utilize Hypnotherapy to establish the practices of Mindfulness and Presence.
In addition I introduce Somatic practices so that my client may recognize when they are trapped in their thoughts. Somatic practices are body-centered techniques, and are especially useful in establishing new patterns of awareness and nervous system regulation. We can be sure that if we are not experiencing Peace in the moment, we have become trapped by the stories of the past and or/the imagined future. Even when we are experiencing sadness, anger, fear.... we can be present to our center in the here and now recognizing that we are experiencing those emotions and applying the tools and techniques that we've learned to process through those emotions and sensations without attaching to them. By attaching to them, suffering is magnified.
