Our mind is a powerful universe. When we learn the skills to master our mind, we end pain, illness, fear, chaos, and unwanted habits and behaviors. Instead we live with control over our impulses and have deep sleep, healthy weight, well-being, we achieve our goals, and we live in peace, clarity, love, and awareness.
Why do we each react and behave the way we do with behaviors that cause illness, pain, and chaos? How is it that there is so much misunderstanding among us. Why do two children with the same parents in the same household have different stories of what it was like growing up in that home? Because every single mind is a powerful universe unto itself, and no one can completely understand or predict another. Every Individual's mind Is a unique universe.
Each one of us is a complex system of many worlds in one mind that holds family and cultural programming, unique perceptions and interpretations of experiences, individualized and collective trauma, desires, intentions, and patterns. Because there is so much confusion that brings intolerance and judgment, so much projection of unhealed wounding and trauma, collectively and individually, we have individuals and communities at war with one another.
In the past 12 months, I travelled and experienced four different states in the United States. Within each state, were individuals with different dominant perceptions of morality and religion, political beliefs, and lifestyles. Even while each region held primary belief systems, each unique mind had differences from one another. I love travelling and experiencing new cultures and new populations because I find it essential for us to be open and aware.
In learning to tune into that more tender place of love and understanding within the depths of oneself, we find love for others within our hearts. When our personal realities change, we influence the realities of others. This requires skill; it's not just about dogma or intention. Learning to live life with humility, awareness, and peace requires skill that's teachable and shareable.
If we choose to learn how to master our mind rather than be the victim of the thoughts, we learn to navigate this life skillfully. We begin to transform illness, confusion, lack of control, impulsiveness, lack of motivation, fear, loneliness, pain, counter-productive habits, sleep disorders - suffering in all forms. Our cravings and longings for indulgence in unhealthy and unmanageable patterns and imaginations transforms into empowerment, well-being, clarity, and peace. We return to the wisdom held within ourselves, and find understanding. There are skills to learn in order to live with this awareness, to live with the lights on.
When we are tuned into the wisdom within and live through this reality in our daily life, we navigate life skillfully. This changes our perceptions and our experience of life, and as a result it also changes the lives of those around us. Collaboration increases, with love. It is a return to a way that we have forgotten, and begin to experience again. And it brings meaningful fulfillment, which is our deepest longing underneath all the others.
